Ragi Porridge

Ragi (Finger Millet) is a staple food in many parts of southern India. Karnataka is the largest producer of ragi in India. It is also grown and consumed in Africa.

Ragi is gluten free and whole grain. It is rich in protein, calcium, vitamins and minerals. Ragi is a rich source of calcium which helps in strengthening bones and restoring bone density. It is rich in iron and hence beneficial in treating anemia. It has high dietary fiber and polyphenols. The low glycemic index helps in controlling diabetes. It lessens food cravings which is helpful for weight reduction and the dietary fibre content in it allows for smooth movement of food in the stomach. It is also good for hairs and skin. It helps in reducing anxiety, depression and insomnia.

Ragi flour is used for preparing ragi rotti, ragi mudde, ragi dosa, and ragi cookies.

Pecans are a good source of protiens, vitamins and minerals.  Pecans are heart healthy, good in controlling diabetes and promoting brain function.

Raisins are rich in iron, calcium, and fibers.

All the above health benefits make Ragi Porridge a very healthy and ideal breakfast choice.
