Turmeric Tea

Turmeric Ginger Tea is an herbal beverage packed with lots of health benefits. Turmeric and Ginger are very common ingredients in the ancient Ayurvedic medicines which originated in India.

Turmeric is one of the most common spices used in Indian cooking and is well known for its anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties. Hence it is a good remedy for joint pain, heart issues, and skin problems. Curcumin which is found in Turmeric has been found to be beneficial in slowing the aging process and preventing Alzheimer's disease.

Ginger has anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties and aids in digestion and helps to ease sore muscles and arthritis pain.

Lemon or lime is loaded with Vitamin C and the tanginess gives a very refreshing taste.

Pepper powder is high in antioxidants and has anti-inflammatory properties.

Ingredients:

  1. Turmeric root - 1- 2 Inches
  2. Ginger root  - 1/2 to 1 Inch
  3. Water - 2 to 3 cups
  4. Lemon or Lime -1
  5. Pepper Powder - 1 Pinch
  6. Honey - 1 tsp.

Instructions:

  1. Shred the Turmeric and Ginger root.
  2. Keep a  Saucepan or vessel on a cooking range and add water.
  3. Add shredded Turmeric and Ginger to water.
  4. Boil the water for 5 minutes. Once it starts to roll boil, add the pepper powder.
  5. Strain the tea with a strainer.
  6. Add Honey.
  7. Squeeze Lime/Lemon Juice.

Hot Turmeric Ginger Tea is now ready.
