Paddu or Guliyappa is a very popular traditional south Indian breakfast delicacy. The batter for Paddu is the same as that for rice lentil dosa. Paddu is also known by other names such as Guliyappa, Gundponglu, or Paniyaram. It is very easy to prepare, simple, and a quick lunch box item for kids.
There are different varieties of Paddu's such as Rava Paddu, Moong Dal Paddu, Sabbakki Paddu, and Sweet Paddu's.
Paddu's are made in custom pans with circular molds. The pan is known by different names such as Appam Pan, Aebleskiver Pan, Takoyaki Pan, and Puff Pancake Pan. The two varieties of Paddu pans are non-stick and cast-iron pans. I prefer the cast iron pan to make the Paddu taste traditional and original.
The yummy paddu's are now ready to eat.
Paddu's are commonly served with Chutney or sambhar.
